Friday Featured Seller - Devin Prather

Expressions by Devin is this week's Featured Seller! Congrats Devin!

I see Devin's name all the time in the Etsy forums, promoting blogs and shop goodies and all that fun stuff. Devin has also been a rockstar at commenting on my blog, so I knew that sooner or later she'd end up being featured. (See? The more you comment, the more chances you have to get picked!) Her shop features handmade cards and stationery and has been up since February. I saw many goodies I'd like to feature but as always had to narrow it down to three. Check out her shop to see everything else she features.

Khphillips

Come join me in ceramic heaven as we take a look at Khphillips Pottery. I love his work. I see it on the front page, he's active in the forums, and each time I take a look at his shop I find more and more things I want to buy. This guy is so good with porcelain I can't stand it. And the glazes! Don't even get me started. Let's just look at photos and write out our "want!" list, shall we?

(Seriously you guys, I don't know if it is Blogger or Etsy or what, but the pictures are posting as HUGE! I apologize. This just started this week and I have no idea what's going on there. So, unfortunately it's a link day.)

There is a ton more where that came from. Check him out and tell me what piece of his is your favorite and post it here!

Hclark

Hclark is today's lucky feature. I met Hclark through the chat rooms on Etsy and we've hit it off as Etsy friends with the both of us in art school. Her forte is jewelry, something I can't begin to wrap my mind around. She definitely makes better work than I ever would, that's for sure! :)

Let's hope these pictures work today ...

Ola Designs

Ola, Ola, Ola, how I love your shop! Ola Designs is the work of Olga Cuttell, an artist based in British Columbia who makes dreamy, imaginative and colorful prints, pendants and now calendars! I had such a hard time trying to pick what I wanted to feature. Everything in her shop is so good. I recommend everything! :)

Unfortunately the pictures keep getting cut off so I attached the links instead.

Hedgehog's Garden Print

Let me know what your favorite item is in her shop by posting in the comments below.

New day, new items!

I took advantage of the sun that appeared this morning (which has already disappeared, sigh) to take some pictures of my latest items in my shop. I'm really excited to feature this children's scarf which is whole new territory for me. I have another children's scarf in my shop but I'd love some feedback especially from all the moms out there.

Let me know, what do you think?

SuSoap

SuSoap kicks off another week of favorites in my blog-land. Susan, the owner behind SuSoap, makes drink coasters from marble tiles, soap (you guessed it!) and cards/gift tags, perfect for the holidays. Unfortunately she did not have soap in her shop today so I can't show you any, but I can show you some of the tiles and cards. I originally hearted her shop because of the tiles, and I'm sure you will see why when you look at the photos here:

Follow Along!

For some time, my "following" function over there ---> has been disabled. I don't know why, I certainly didn't do it. However, I have good news. The magic of Blogger has some how fixed the bug and you are now able to follow my blog again. :)

Friday Featured Seller - luv4sams

luv4sams is today's lucky featured seller. I remember seeing her typewriter jewelry in the search results when I was searching for cufflinks, and she has many unique pairs available. Besides the typewriter jewelry, she also sells pocket mirrors, magnets, pins, keychains and much more! In case you're curious, like I was, luv4sams stands for her love of her samoyed dogs. Cool, huh?
Congratulations luv4sams for being my featured seller! If you want to have a chance at being a featured seller, leave a comment during the week and you may find yourself featured too!

TheHennery

TheHennery specializes in photography, specifically prints of nature and farm life. I really like the compositions of her work with the closeups of flowers and vegetation, as well as the color and the way light illuminates some of these prints. Truly lovely. Another interesting read is her blog, Not So Urban Hennery where you can keep tabs of her farmette life adventures in Washington state. On to the pictures! Enjoy!

Orgellan

Everyone should know from my interview on Etsy Featured Artist that I am a sucker for swirls. So it should come to no surprise that I am featuring Orgellan today. Swirls, color and intricate details make up her jewelry which is just exquisite. Her pieces are also inspired by Celtic and Viking lore. If you're so lucky to live in Texas, specifically Houston, you can see her jewelry in person in boutiques. If all of us on Etsy could be so lucky. ;)

iWunder

iWunder is today's featured shop. Her shop features a little bit of knitted and crocheted everything - flower appliques, scarves, purses, apparel and even hand dyed yarn so you can make your own custom scarf, hat or whatever strikes your fancy. I love the colors she uses in her yarn - bold tropical pinks, greens, and oranges that reflect the lovely climate of Florida. Not only will the colors warm you up, but the wool yarn certainly will.

Tag, I'm it!

So, the lovely Debbie from Debbie Gootter Designs on Etsy tagged me. I've always seen it done to everyone but me, and so I'm going to think of 7 things that are interesting about me. Here we go.

1. I am a big procrastinator. I got this mention about a week ago, and here we are and I finally remembered to do it. This is definitely getting worse with age which can mean a lot of things since I'm only 25. But I do get things done. Like this list.

2. I'm also a big list maker. I love lists. I love things like the elaborate yet funny To-Do lists from Knock Knock.

3. I can't paint worth anything. I mean, I guess I can paint, you know, if life depended on it or something, but it's not anything decent. Which is funny since when everyone hears that I'm an artist immediately thinks, oh, you paint right?

4. I've also never ever taken a photography class. Ever. I mean I took a digital photography class (which doesn't count), but I've never learned how to use a 35 mm camera and develop film. Before I get my bachelors degree I am forcing myself to do this.

5. I didn't start drinking til age 23. Up to that point I never really liked anything I'd tried, and I'm definitely not a wine or beer girl. Hard liquor, most ironically.

6. This is no secret to those who know me, but I L-O-V-E Jon Hamm from Mad Men. Say what you will about his character on the show for those of you familiar, but he is hot. Normally I'm not into the dark hair and eyes types of guys, but my god, he is handsome. Did I mention he is hot? Ahhh!

7. I slept overnight on a destroyer ship. That was docked in a museum. In winter. With a group of friends. It's a long story, but yeah, it was interesting.

MyHeartandSew

There's nothing I love more on a Monday morning than a craftily inspired Etsy store name.

Oh, that, and custom orders, but I digress. :)

MyHeartandSew is a veritable treasure trove for all your fabric needs. Seriously, there are 444 items in her shop right now. There is something for everyone in here. Reds, pinks, yellows, prints, flowers ... monkey cats ... from designers like Amy Butler, Michael Miller, Moda, and many more. I picked three fabrics at random just to give a taste of what you may find.

Friday Featured Seller - ThreadBeaur

Today's Friday Featured Seller is ThreadBeaur, a local (to me) artist who sells eco-friendly shopping bags from recycled fabrics or vintage finds. Her mission is to have everyone use cloth bags wherever they go. It's a fabulous mission if you ask me with my Trader Joe's bags, and I'm especially in love with the coffee sleeve idea. Go green and congratulations ThreadBeaur!

Nervous System

I'm sure this is a well-known and loved Etsy favorite, but I just love looking at Nervous System's work. The sleek lines, original concept (who would've thought to put holes in a rubber sheet and make it into a bracelet?) and organic shapes are just so cool. Let's just sit back and enjoy looking at these awesome accessories (especially that orchid necklace, that's like a topographic map!)

Whitney Smith Pottery

Whitney Smith Pottery is a wonderland of color and shape. Just look at the first picture and try to tell me you don't want to reach out and touch it. Her work is primarily wheel thrown and influenced by antique design and flowers. You'll find something for everyone: bowls, plates, cake stands, plates, vases, creamer and sugar sets and even an option to set up a wedding registry for her things. I've listed three of my favorite things (there's more, of course), and I highly recommend you check it out.

Hazel Brown

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Handbags.

When I first got started selling on Etsy, I took some time to putter around and try out the different features of the site. I found the shop local widget that features all the sellers with my location tag (Chicago suburbs). I was delightfully surprised to find Hazel Brown. Every time I check her shop there is something new that I want. Right now I'm lusting after the Red Wristlet (third image below). Check out her shop and find something you love.

Debbie Gootter Designs

What a way to start a Monday! I am featured on Debbie Gootter's blog today. Everything you'd ever wanted to know about little ol' me is in that post, so I recommend you check it out, give the blog entry some love, and check out some of Debbie's items. One good turn deserves another, right? :)

Debbie Gootter has a couple Etsy shops, most notably her jewelry shop. She has been on Etsy since 2006 and has been making jewelry for a couple years. Some of her work reminds me of geodes like with amethyst rocks (see the necklace in the middle). Very pretty, very silver and a wonderful seller. Like I said, check out her blog and her shop as she is having a 50% off sale on some of her things. Thanks again Debbie!

Friday Featured Seller - Christopher and Tia

Today's lucky winners are Christopher and Tia. Their shop features funky recipe card boxes and cards decked out in hot bold colors. Seriously, it is 6.30 in the morning here and looking at the bright colors trying to decide what to feature is helping me wake up. :) Normally I'm not a fan of recipe boxes (one too many frilly boxes done with plaid or flowers or something too fluffy for my taste), but these have me reconsidering. Check these out!

JacobCounts

I've known this Etsy seller for awhile and I was pleasantly surprised to find his shop when I joined. JacobCounts features mostly oil painting and ink drawings, two areas of art I don't think get a lot of coverage on Etsy compared to jewelry or some other popular crafts. Nevertheless, I love how these images are created with different line textures and qualities. These images are based off of fashion models and mannequins.

MillieDogDesigns

You might recall a post I made a few weeks ago commenting how I contributed to a fellow Etsian's cause: donating an item for a charity auction for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The seller, MillieDogDesigns has a blog and has over the past few weeks been profiling everyone who contributed. Today she featured me, and you can read all about my interview here. Be sure to check out her Etsy shop and leave some comments on her blog. She is a really lovely woman to work with and her designs (as you will see below) are wonderful. Millie, in case you were wondering, is the name of her dog.

Photo Art Fabric

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a pillow?

Photo Art Fabric Pillow (sold, sorry folks!)

Yes everyone, this ingenious (and hip, and cool, and all-around amazing) pillow is the work of Photo Art Fabric. While there isn't much fabric being sold right now, there is quite the collection of tiles to choose from. How has this shop flown under the radar for so long? Their stuff is so freaking cool!

My favorite tile:
