Steinvika

Steinvika.

What a fun shop name to say. Based out of Madison Wisconsin, this shop features copper and silver enameled jewelry pieces. Best part? There's a big Mother's Day sale going on. There are so many bright shiny colors to choose from, it was hard to narrow down to just three. So here's my picks:

Fine Silver Enamel Disk Grass Rubber

Clover Pink Earrings

Double Copper Enamel Flame Red on Opaque Orange

So earthy. So bright. Can't get enough? Check out her blog for more.

Yafit Glass

Yafit Glass is created by Yafit Haba, an Israeli glass artist who currently lives in the US. She makes a variety of items, including plates and spoon rests. I found Yafit's work when I saw the Irid bowl pictured below and really liked the geometric line. You can see more of her work on her Etsy page.

Elephant and Chickpea

I was surfing around, minding my own business, when I came across Etsy's front page and noticed one of the items was a pair of handmade shoes.

Who knew?

(not me)

I am so intrigued by this. ElephantandChickpea makes custom handmade shoes. Of course, I am a complete sucker for mary jane style shoes so I'm all over this. Orange? Red? Say no more.

DancingKat

Ever feel like now that you're an adult you'd like to go back to being a kid? Where the hardest thing you had to do at the moment was master bike riding or learn about multiplication? Yeah. Life would be so much simpler at the moment if all I had to do was take a multiplication test. So, in the spirit of slogging through the semester, I'm regressing to being a kid again. And that means one thing.

Coloring.

Dancing Kat Designs makes these fabulous fabric roll-up crayon holder devices, but I think they'd be appropriate for adults too. Y'know, if you didn't use the crayons (at least in public). Or maybe I have no shame. I'd totally use one of those. She also makes great bibs, blankies and other things for adults, like coin purses and wristlets.

2-D Zoo Blue

First Numbers

Flower Power Coin Purse

I'm off to grab a juice box and some crackers and hang out at the kids' table. Check out her shop for all her other goodies, come back here and leave a comment.

Friday Featured Seller - HipLobesATBP

Apology/Disclaimer: Sorry for being a not-very-good blog person and not having Thursday's post up. Technology and time conspired against me. In 3 weeks, I'll have no more school for the summer and have all the time in the world so just bear with me!

On with the show!

Today's featured seller is Hip Lobes ATBP. Bonus points if you can tell me what ATBP is. I looked. :) Anyway, the name of the game here is jewelry, and lots of it. All very pretty stuff. I love the earrings in the banner! Very nice. All of these are perfect for spring, and if you're getting married, they also have a sister store on their page where you can find things for your bridesmaids and what-not.

Red Velvet

You Are My Sunshine

California Dreamin'

There's more where that came from, for sure! Be sure to check it out. And if you want to be a featured seller too make sure you leave a comment!

RePhilosophy

Rephilosophy made me rethink my philosophy on upcycling. I've seen a few articles about how to upcycle items, and while I thought the ingenuity was cool, it was usually restricted to a couple one-off things like re-purposing an old sweater. The creator of Rephilosphy, Paola, who lives in Italy has made upcycling and recycling her theme. And she's turned her theme into something uniquely her own. If you take a look at her shop you'll find she has a really great aesthetic with something like making her own envelopes and the end result looks so crisp, like something you'd buy in a store.

3 Heart Cards with Envelopes

Italian History Envelopes

Upcycled Notebook #49

Makes you want to travel somewhere doesn't it? To see more of her work, check out her shop and make sure to leave a comment below!

Tina Tarnoff

It's not often I come across papercut things, but when I do I really admire the work that goes into them. I've found a couple papercut artists on Etsy, and I think Tina Tarnoff is really good. Based out of San Francisco, she is a 2-D artist working with drawings and most recently papercut work. The detail in her work is amazing. I recommend clicking on the images to make them bigger so you can really see the detail in the work. You can read more of her process on her Etsy profile page.

CathieKing

Today is my second Pounce feature, Cathie King. Based out of Brooklyn, Cathie is a National Geographic Traveler PDN World in Focus winner. She was published in the February 2008 PDN magazine and was featured in a live gallery at the Photo Expo Plus in NYC October 2007. Cathie also has prints in the permanent collection of the Hallmark Museum of Contemporary Photography. Pretty impressive! So let's turn our attention to some of the prints in her shop:

Dosty The First

After the success of last week where I featured various sellers under the premise of "Etsy on a Budget", this week I've decided to feature sellers (new and regular) that I found via the Pounce tool on Etsy. Some of you may remember I've done this in the past occasionally, but this week all of my sellers are going to be from Pounce. Today's seller is dostythefirst, a new shop out of London that sells 80's themed pixelated tiles. I know some of you are thinking...what? but just check these out. The Nintendo and Atari generation among us are going to recognize some of these. :)

Monk Tile

Mondrian Tile

Ghost Tile

Personally, I think these are really original and cool. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Etsy on a Budget: Toys

Welcome to the last day of this week's special topic, Etsy on a Budget. Today I am featuring toys for young children (or those young at heart) that cost less than 15 dollars. This topic is even more important after the recent CPSIA issues came up this winter. You can click on the "Save Handmade Toys" link on the right for more information.

Let's have some fun!

Niknod - Daniel Thinks In Numbers - $15

MFcrafts - Poky Little Puppy Book and Puppet Set - $4

Clickity Clack - Elephant Puzzle #5 - $7.95

What fun was that? I know my inner child enjoyed that. Take a look at these fine shops, be sure to leave a comment because I am picking the Friday Featured Seller tomorrow and I wouldn't want you to miss out!
