A Couple Questions

As you know, the point of this whole blog is to advertise not only what goes on in my shop, but also what's going on in many of the interesting, quirky and beautiful shops of yours. Lately I've been thinking about how to bring my blog to the next level (whatever level that is) and I need some feedback from you, my loyal readers.

Question 1 - How do you feel about advertising? We're not talking Google AdSense, I don't necessarily like having ads tailored to what I'm writing at the time as I find it a little 1984-ish, but what about Project Wonderful? Something that allows more Etsy shops to be discovered? Love the idea but not on my blog? Let me know.

This next part is more of a comment than a question, but is there anything else you'd like to see in my blog posts? More chances for giveaways? Should I write more about CPSIA legislation issues? Should I write about my shop every so often about process and new items? What do you want as readers?

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. By next Monday at 9a I'll pick a comment and send that person a gift certificate towards my shop for participating.

I look forward to reading your comments!

Good morning:) lots of questions. Hmm as for ads, I dont mind seeing them as long as they're not overwhelming the page. I do click on interesting PW ads. I do enjoy blogs that have a personal touch. I read all the blogs I follow, and find those that write about their art , process personality, etc I tend to look forward to new posts. I guess, write what truly interests you :) Have a grand day beautiful!

Hey there, I'm new to your blog...and to blogs in general. So far, I do like to see ads, but ones that pertain to other sellers on etsy mostly. Otherwise I don't give them much attention. I just like to see what other people are creating. And I think what you have going is just right, you hit the balance. ;) I look forward to reading more. Thanks!

I don't mind small, pertinent ads. I love all the features you do on other etsy shops and have definitely found some new "favorites" that way. But I also like reading about what's going on in your shop.

If you are trying to mix it up a little, maybe your featured shops could be grouped thematically, like one week for art, one for paper crafts, one for jewelry, etc. Just an idea :)

Ads are ok, I don't pay for them but they are ok. I have lots of etsy mini's and buttons on my blog from different shops and blogs. Give aways are really great, love having them and entering them. I like lots of pictures.

Hi there ^_^

1. Ads are a good to add to your blog. I don't mind seeing ads and I do occasionally click on them. I dont't know much about Project Wonderful, but I heard it was good and have seen ads with Project Wonderful. I would like to see Project Wonderful ads more than Google ads.

2. The subjects you have already in your blog are interesting. I would like to see your work in process and your mind set for your items =). Giveaways are a great way to keep old and new readers coming to your blog, maybe have them weekly/monthly? and promote as much as you can in threads and so on.

Extra: I just wanted to also comment that, you said you want to take your blog to the "next level". Well I think you should consider another background to make your blog stand out once then reader enters. Not something too colorful, but maybe some like basic colors? Try TheCutestBlogOnTheBlock.com , they have some real nice backgrounds and its free ^_^

Ok I hope my comment helped. Good Luck! =)

Here's a post from my blog on PW: http://artsdesireglass.blogspot.com/2009/01/trying-new-things.html
I haven't tried it again, but may in the near future with a better looking ad.

Hi! I'm new to your blog. I like image adds, as long as they are interesting and all togheter, not scatered around too much. I have thought about adding a third column to my own blog (if I ever get lots of readers) and keep that space for advertising and for my own recommended sites. Who knows, maybe I'll get some sponsors! ;)

Just posted a poll on my own blog asking for feedback on some of the same issues. I also just added a third column to my blog so I could promote more, although I don't do ads - but maybe I should. Guess I don't want to depersonalize it, but that's just my opinion. It never hurts to try something new, so give the ads a shot! Outside of that, everything looks great. Thanks!
